How did you get so good at Excel? Tell us a bit about your modeling training.

Been using Excel for work and as a hobby since I was in primary school days. I don’t really do any modelling training because I lead a modelling team as my work – work = training!

What makes you different from the other competitors? What are your strengths?

I’m very laid back and not very serious at all – no pressure!
I’m hoping for a question that is can only be done via 100% VBA 🙂

What is/are your greatest achievement(s) – either personally or professionally?

Having a baby (well my wife anyway) 48 hrs before round 2 started – having to duck out of hospital at 10pm to get home, then sneaking back in like a burglar at 2am! Lucky my wife is very understanding!

Favorite Excel Shortcut(s):

CONTROL S – Keep saving your work!!! Doesn’t matter how awesome your other shortcuts or addins are – if you don’t save your work frequently, when (not if) Excel crashes then it’s all for naught!

From where does your passion for financial modeling come?

Modelling is the single only discipline that can shrink the analysis of an entire massive business into a single Excel file. The ability to learn about the key drivers of a business, risks and opportunities facing it – is just too awesome.

Tell us a bit about your life away from work.

I like to play computer games – watercooled dual GPU set ups and all that… if only I was good enough to win modeloff so I can upgrade my home computer some more.

What do you hope comes out of being a ModelOff Finalist?

I would like another copy of Office signed from the Microsoft Excel developer team. The Office 365 subscriptions only last a year 😀
