How did you hear about the ModelOff competition? What made you want to get involved?
I was among the finalists last year. I like competition in any form. I participated in many science competitions during my high school; later I participated in finance and business oriented championships. So, when I heard that there is a financial modeling world championship for professionals I made no doubt I would take part in it.
How did you get so good at Excel? Tell us a bit about your modeling training.
I have no secret. I studied by myself. When I get some task in Excel, I just solved it. Of course, I have read many books and watched educational videos, but I did it only to fill the gaps in my knowledge and skills. The only real training is practice.
What makes you different from the other competitors? What are your strengths?
I am very good at math and logic that is why I prefer more challenging and hard cases that require not only Excel and financial skills but also unconventional thinking.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received at work?
Go home. It is too late 🙂
