How did you hear about the ModelOff competition? What made you want to get involved?
Through an email as an opportunity to expose my students to more advanced modeling concepts.
Tell us a bit about your experiences in Round 1 and 2. Did you think you would make it to the World Finals?
I enjoyed both rounds. Given the early time for Round 1, I completed from home on a 13-inch laptop. Wanting to perform a bit better in Round 2, I competed from my office where I have better keyboard and monitor set up. After completing Round 2, I felt pretty good about my chances.
What is/are your greatest achievement(s) – either personally or professionally?
I have recently had two research papers accepted for publication in the Journal of Financial Economics – one of the top journals in academic finance.
Tell us a bit about your life away from work.
I enjoy traveling with my wife; cooking, gardening and brewing beer; and getting outside to enjoy nature through hiking, camping and rock climbing.
Favorite Excel Shortcut(s):

Developing a network with the modeling community that will allow me to better prepare my students for their careers. That, and hopefully learning a few new modeling tricks.
